*dust off*

It's been a long time since I have been playing Freelancer but something that bugged me back then and still bugs me today (only a bit) is the inability to be able to save/load multiple sets of settings for "Limitations". It would be very handy to have this option if one uses multiple characters with completely different affilitations etc. . Having to click through hundreds of factions, commodities and systems when playing with stuffed mods like Discovery is very time-consuming and tedious. Having some sort of profiles/favorites menu would be the best solution I think, but a simple "Export/Import" function that saves the current settings for limitations (and possibly also speed and delays?) to a simple (txt?) file would do the trick just fine.

best regards
Senshi

Until Wizou responds, if you don't mind editing the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wizou\FLCompanion\Settings

Change the settings to suit, then copy/rename the Settings key (which also includes the limitations). The downside is you'll have to restart each time for the new settings to take effect, but that shouldn't really be a problem.

Thank you! A bit of an annoying workaround, but it will do the trick for now...I'm sure wizou will be able to provide a pretty internal solution :) .

indeed, until i decide whether or not i find the time & courage to develop a new version of FLCompanion
the easiest solution is to use regedit & Export the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wizou\FLCompanion\Settings to a *.reg file.

This way you can have multiple reg file for each set of limitations
and then just have to double-click on the .reg file to import one set.

You can also open a .reg file with notepad to modify some values by hand

This is normally the point I would ask for the source (I believed you've considered releasing it?), but I've already got enough to do... :)

I've considered releasing the source code
but it is too much based on various libraries of utility classes/functions that i don't wish to release.

I tried to change FLCompanion code so it could run without my libraries but it seems too much work, for something that would become only half functional and not really useful.
